I’m originally from the UK and after graduating from University in Manchester I took my first ‘proper job’ with a large publishing company in London working in Media Sales. Making the decision to see some of the world I moved to Tokyo, Japan for three years before emigrating to Christchurch, New Zealand in 2005.
This is where my recruitment career began. I found my niche recruiting in the IT sector, initially working for a small specialist agency and then with a global recruitment firm. In an end to end recruitment role, I worked across the full spectrum of IT functions from entry level help desk roles to software programming and development, QA, Project Management and Executive level positions. I’ve partnered with large enterprise organisations, Government entity’s, SME’s and start up’s sourcing for both contract and permanent positions.
In 2010 I led the implementation of a recruitment outsourcing model into a global communication solutions business based in Christchurch. Initially engaged for a fixed term project to recruit 30 specialist technology roles, the project developed into a full multi-region RPO with significant annual hires in New Zealand, China, the US and Europe. The skill sets I recruited were highly specialist including software development, systems engineering, hardware design, program management and technology leadership.
I was promoted into the role of National Business Development Manager in 2011 where I was responsible for driving new sales across all business lines within New Zealand for a large multinational recruitment company. In addition to overseeing the national sales function for the business, I managed a number of large strategic accounts and supported sales teams within regional locations. In 2014 The Talent Hive was launched where I am a Director and Principal Consultant for our IT practice.
