My experience

I have lived and worked in New Zealand for more than a decade, helping Engineering and Senior professionals make great career choices and partnering with businesses to build and execute talent strategies which power them ahead of their competitors.

In 2004 I emigrated from the UK and joined a Fortune 500 global recruitment company as an Engineering Recruiter based in Christchurch. Initially my client base grew across the high-tech manufacturing sector, where I worked with some of New Zealand’s most innovative companies. I then expanded into the broader Engineering disciplines primarily focusing on Civil, Energy, Manufacturing and R&D. After building a loyal client base and consistently delivering great outcomes for the candidates that I worked with, I moved into a recruitment management role. Here I led a large team of Technical Recruiters across the IT and Engineering sectors. I was then promoted into my first national management role in 2011, where I managed multiple branches across New Zealand.

During this time, I won recognition for my work in the consulting, design, implementation and management of large outsourced recruitment process models (RPO). These scalable solutions focused on the identification, attraction and on-boarding of hard-to-find talent within the Communications and Construction Project Management Sectors. In 2013 I moved into a Group General Manager role that formed part of an ANZ Executive Leadership Team, before taking up my role as Director Engineering with The Talent Hive in mid 2014.

From graduates to engineering gurus and from fledgling start-ups to large corporate’s, my consultative approach has delivered a track record of success across an extensive network of New Zealand candidates and clients.

"During the first years with my new company Matt remained in regular contact with me, I saw him as a figure that I could safely consult if I needed support around my future career development. A few years have gone by now, I have progressed in my profession, but I am still in contact with Matt as I see him as a sincere listener who is genuinely willing to help people unleash their full career potential."

"I have engaged Matt on a number of occasions to source candidates for senior roles and have consistently been impressed with his approach and delivery. Matt took time in each case to understand the current state of our business, the culture and the strategy. We had some tricky, hard to fill Engineering roles, and the combination of his market knowledge and good attraction strategies meant he delivered great candidates. Most importantly he got to know me and how I liked to work  "

"I have known Matt for approx 10 years. He is a highly professional and experienced recruiter and is a pleasure to work with. During my time as Group HR Manager for an international technology company, we worked together to initiate an RPO. The company was under pressure to deliver some large projects on time and required highly skilled technical resources very quickly. This initiative was not without it's challenges - or detractors - however, the great results spoke for themselves and this was in no small part because of the skill, experience and commitment of Matt "
